Wednesday morning is happy like a tan fat cat.

The sweetest moments can happen at the most unexpected times.

That's how this morning has been.

Our heart-melting moment came in an unexpected place. The bathroom. With an unexpected catalyst. The sentence "The tan fat cat is glad."

While we were playing with blocks early this morning, just after Bob left for work, Matthew abruptly announced that he needed to poop and ran to the bathroom. This on its own is a joyous moment. One that has happened on only three previous occasions. So I scooped up Nolan and we all ran to the bathroom.

There Matthew decided that he would like me to read his new books to him. My mom gave us a set of early reading books yesterday. He's been obsessed since yesterday afternoon when he discovered them. So far "Fat Cat" is his favorite.

When I read the last sentence, "THE TAN FAT CAT IS GLAD", Matthew looked confused.

"Do you know what the word 'glad' means?" I asked.

"No," he said, shaking his head.

"Glad is another word for happy."

He immediately brightened and smiled and proclaimed, "Yeah, happy like when my daddy's home!"

Awwwww...

Then he looked at Nolan who was smiling and wiggling in excitement, simply because his big brother was actually, truly looking at him (another rare occurrence around here) and added, "And happy like when the baby's here!"

Yes. That's exactly what glad means.
Happy like your mommy is right now.

Love it! You just never know when those moments are going to happen, do you? I want to savor each one, knowing that this time will pass by all too quickly. :)
